Nominations Open For Criminal Defense Lawyer of the Year 2007

Just a reminder that we are soliciting nominations for Criminal Defense Lawyer of the Year 2007.  Remember, this is not about the biggest, most important newsmaker or Big Name lawyer, but about regular lawyers who toil in the trenches day in and day out, without the recognition their efforts deserve.

While a few terrific nominations have already come in, I've got to believe that there are more of you out there who have a criminal defense lawyer whose efforts are worthy of note.  I would expect that every reader here has colleague or lawyer who inspired them, served them, represented them, helped them or just stood up to injustice or impropriety, not to make headlines but because it was the right thing to do.  This is your chance to recognize them, and by doing so, recognize the work of criminal defense lawyers on behalf of the accused.

Make your nominations here and let everyone know about a deserving criminal defense lawyer.

I nominate Attorney Anthony “Tony” Hutchins (a public defender) for Criminal Lawyer of the Year. His client was Mr. Nathaniel Gibbs of Bristol, New Hampshire. The story was blogged on the Simple Justice site - ‘How Many Years If You’re Acquitted‘. In my opinion, Atty. Hutchins did a superb job defending Mr. Gibbs. He saved an innocent mans’ life, a family, and should receive the Lawyer of the Year Award.
