Sorrow Felt By Police Nationwide: Why, They Ask?
It's unclear how law enforcement culture developed to hold anything so dear. Still, every schoolchild across the country is aware of one immutable fact: There is nothing that impacts more deeply the core of a police officer's psyche than when pointless harm befalls them.
Is it cultural? Is it there beforehand, or does it happen later? Perhaps it's taught at the police academy, or just one of the many tricks of the trade that is enforced by the peer group pressures. I really can't say.
But there is no doubt that this image can cause the toughest, meanest, most hard-nosed police officer to weep. It moves me to tears as well. If you're squeamish, this is not for you.

Such a horrible waste.
