Great Stuff Elsewhere

Some days, there's just too much good stuff out there for one blawg to handle.  And since it's already been handled so well elsewhere, the best I can do is make sure that you know its out there and point anyone who hasn't already seen it to the following great stories/posts.

Crime & Federalism:  Mike has this outrageous post via cnet about how the FBI has come up with a whole new way to snare the unsuspecting for kiddie porn, fake hyperlinks!  Unbelievable, not to mention deeply flawed.  Also, Mark Draughn at Windypundit and Orin Kerr have posted about this as well.  Yes, it's mind-boggling and worth a post, but how many posts can there be that say the same thing?

Underdog:  Jon Katz breaks my heart with this post about how Joe Ligotti, the guy from Boston, turns out to be an actor, not the xenophobic but hysterically funny lowlife that he plays on the internet.  Does this mean the kid from Brooklyn is a fake too?  Is nothing sacred?  If you can't trust the wackos, who can you trust?

Austin Criminal Defense Lawyer:  Jamie's got a heart-breaking story (really, this time, not like the Joe Ligotti one) about how 10 year old Jayci Yaeger, dying of cancer, is denied the opportunity to see her father, who has 1 year left on his drug sentence, by the unilateral fiat of a camp warden.  This, apparently, is not sufficiently "extraordinary" to give the kid a chance to be with her dad before she dies.  Doug Berman also posts about it, though oddly without any commentary.

And then there's Turley (whose blawg is named, naturally, Turley):  Jonathon posts about how a 72 year old, beaten and "kneed" when cops apparently executed a warrant at the wrong address and, after realizing it, just proceeded for the fun of it in front of his 2 year old granddaughter, had his jury verdict cut to limit the award to his medical bills.  Apparently, pain and suffering are just part of our duty as citizens.

I can say for sure, but I bet I'll be adding some more stuff before the end of the day.
