After Further Deliberations, I've Got Nothing
The first time someone "tagged" me with a "meme", I was so out of touch that I had to ask Bennett what a "meme" was. He explained that it was like a virus that ran through the bowels of the blawgosphere. It didn't sound any more attractive then than it does now.
The eponymous Ed., of the iron-fisted blawg review Ed.'s, started a new meme the other day, with the catchy title, 5 Blogs & 5 Blawgers. The idea was to name 5 blawgers who would then identify 5 great blogs (as in non-law blogs) in honor of Blog Day 2008. This is a lot like Arbor Day, except it does nothing for the environment.
Ed. then named his five favorite blawgers (I was not among them) to propagate the meme. Anne Reed (who is in fine health, for anyone who might think otherwise after Vicky Pynchon spread those rumors of Anne's declining condition) of Deliberations was one of Ed.'s selections, and deservedly so. Anne, in due course, tagged me.
Now, being tagged for a meme is an honor. At least it beats being totally forgotten by everyone else who was tagged. And it's even more of an honor when tagged by someone like Anne, who is the creme de la creme of the blawgosphere, if only she would get back to blawging a bit more.
Like David Giacalone of f/k/a, also tagged by Anne, I'm stymied this time. Reading David's haiku is the closest I come to any regular attention paid to non-law blogs. I'm ashamed of myself for this, but it's largely a time thing, combined with my lack of interest in the mystical (since it appears that others favor blogs with the word "zen" in them).
So, my appreciation that Anne thought of me, remembered me, tagged me aside, I've got nothing. Zero. Zilch. Zip. Nada (just to break the alliteration). I'm running on empty. I bring nothing to the table. Sorry.
But in the spirit of camaraderie, I offer this haiku:
Gideon and Matlock
post quietly
While Pattis sleeps
I know, but what did you expect?

Don't give him too much credit. I spoke with his border collies, and they just humor him.

We myopic, single-minded curmudgeons have to stick together -- even if it makes us unpopular with promiscuous link-propagators.

Maybe we need a secret handshake?

My, the grapes are sour this morning.

If I'd known it would inspire you to haiku, I'd have tagged you with many more memes much earlier.

You always inspire me. It's just never clear how that inspiration will manifest itself.

Technically, that's senryu not haiku, Scott. Senryu is structured like haiku but focuses on human nature rather than on nature. No Comment on whether it is good senryu.
Meanwhile, I'm sort of glad you did not explicitly call f/k/a a non-law weblog.
Law, like haiku, is everywhere, said the Zen (Web)Master to his grasshopper.

You (and the rest of the f/k/a gang) are far too multifaceted to be pigeon-holed. You are a renaissance blogger.

You're embarrassing us, Mr. Greenfield. We all blush very easily, but do love being 5 or 6 centuries behind the cultural curve.
