“First of all, I’m not on your time-watch.”

“U.S. soldier, bro. Know who you’re talking to!”

I don’t suppose there’s a way for this to end with them both getting the ego knocked out of them.

Definitely, but when your first response to police abuse is to indignantly tell them that you’re not one of the little people, you’ve lost my sympathy. Doesn’t mean I’m not pissed off at the cop, of course.

I interpret your question to be, “when will this officer be given a medal for his professional handling of this potentially explosive situation?”

I could swear I read somewhere that Marine + police officer + partner + gun vs. Army Reservist + cigarette = fair fight.

    No?

Clearly the officer showed amazing restraint by not charging the bro with assaulting and officer and resisting arrest.

Relax, The Zappa refrence the other day most likely did not directly contribute to my comment this evening.

I have been reading your worthy comentary, reflections, and suggestions for a year or so now.

Your insightful efforts have indeed found worthy consideration here.

    Thank you.

Now if you will excuse me…why is it the silk of the ’70s never finished the project?

As you know Zappa is not lyric.

Should link Black Napkins but the dilemma is attention and few plant with hands in the soil these days.

The 12B is very lucky. I’m quite certain that, under the UCMJ, inappropriate use of the word “bro” calls for a least a special court-martial.

Also, any use of it is inappropriate.

    sir,

one thing that is sure is that what you cite as being quite certain is that you certainly know nothing about UCMJ.

a special court martial? and i think you mean summary court-martial. seriously? this doesn’t even merit a counseling statement. how do you jump from “bro”, to punishment that skips over verbal counseling, skip over counseling statement, skip over summarized, company grade, and field grade article 15, and jump right into a court-martial? court-martials are typically reserved for felonies, or if the accused challenges the ART 15.

I used to be an MP, and if one of my MPs had EVER done this to ANYONE, he would be…crap, something like this would have been yanked out of my hands as a company commander and punished, at a minimum, at the field grade level. afterward his 45 days extra duty, 45 days restriction, reduction in pay to 1/2 for 2 months, and reduction in rank…he would have been booted out of the MP corps and likely out of the Army with an other than honorable discharge.

seeing officers behave like this makes my blood boil. listening to that officer trying to get the victim to say that nothing just happened is infuriating. even worse is how he knew where not to aim his lapel camera.

and this highlights another issue–hiring former military to be police officers is a bad idea…especially marines. the mindsets are totally different.

on another note, that ex-cop out in LA….i do not agree with what he did, but i have zero sympathy for that, or any, police force because of actions like those displayed here go unpunished. and as bill lind says, in a battle of david and goliath, no one cheers for goliath.

but SHG, i thank you for this video because it taught me one thing, namely, when dealing with the police, go in pairs. one in distant overwatch to be a witness. …and to have a camera.

    “seriously?”

    No.

But hey, cut a bro some slack. It’s hard to record incriminating evidence with your left lapel whilst making it with your right knee.
