So glad Jessica Valenti decided to return to social media, as she never disappoints. With the Women’s March to counter the inauguration of Donald Trump coming, there was a chance that it would attract the broader identity group of feminists rather than the smaller group of people of whom Jessica Valenti approves.
Nope.
Some of you with less finely attuned senses of orthodoxy might think Valenti’s “definition” of inclusivity is, well, exclusive. But that’s only because you lack Valenti’s mad rhetorical spin skillz. And probably suffer from heterodox privilege anyway.
In any event, Valenti’s call to restore the purity of the cause was heard loud and clear.
UPDATE 4:35 PM: The Women’s March on Washington has removed the pro-life group New Wave Feminists from its list of official event sponsors after backlash from feminists arguing that pro-life women are not welcome in the feminist movement. One of the most prominent of such responses:
Roxane Gay never disappoints either. One might think this reflects a small pink tent, a tiny pink tent, but they would be very wrong. It would have to be a huge pink tent to hold intellectual giants like Valenti and Gay.
But you? If you don’t agree with absolutely everything they tell you to believe? Oh, hell no. There’s no room for heresy in the pink tent.

If only more people had pointed and laughed at these radical feminists from the beginning. There’s something to be said for public shaming.
It doesn’t work that way. They wear the shame of shitlords as a badge of honor.
I know they do today. But if we had started publically shaming these idiots back in the early seventies…?
Today’s neofeminism isn’t the same feminism as existed in the 70s. I have no issue with feminism back then.
Scott, have you ever considered writing the feminist version of “How to Win Friends and Influence People”? Perhaps you could title it “Everything is Rape. Except our rape of the English language, that’s not real rape.”
My toxic masculinity combined with inartful use of social justice jargon precludes me from the adventure. But that is a swell title.
This is just funny. This reminds me of the 8th grade and the “cool kids” table, and their attempts to keep “un-cool” kids away from their “cool kids” lunch discussions. It’s very ironic how “marginalized” people do their best to “marginalize” other people who do not fit their stereo type. I know quite a few devout Catholic women who are against abortion, but who are very feminist in their outlook on issues.
As their “mission” reflects, this isn’t really a women’s march, but a progressive march that includes the word “women” in its title.
Priceless. An expression of the very core values of “progressive liberalism.”
I wonder what place the sizable minority of women who voted for Trump has at the march? Or is including them not inclusive either?
Perhaps they are mediocre women?
Oh Dear God. I just soaked my keyboard thinking of Jessica Valenti’s and Roxanne Gay’s huge pink tents. Are you sure you shouldn’t child-block this column?
They’ve seen worse. Trust me.
