Short Take: Trump Gives Bondi Her Orders

Now that Honest Erik Siebert is out of the way, Trump sees no impediment to using the United States of America to impose retribution on his enemies. And the order was given to underling Pam Bondi.

He left out the part about where they convicted him, but I digress. To the MAGA faithful, this makes complete sense. After all, he is the president and the entirety of the government exists to serve his whims as far as they’re concerned. Sure, that might not be true for Presidents Obama or Biden, but they “did it first” and it was terribly wrong and evil, so that means Trump can do it now and it’s “perfect.”

Even for a president who has shattered the traditional norms of maintaining distance from the Justice Department, Mr. Trump’s unabashedly public and explicit orders to Ms. Bondi were an extraordinary breach of prosecutorial protocols that reach back to the days following the Watergate scandal.

Trump wants to appoint a new United States Attorney for EDVA, and he’s got his eye on Lindsey Halligan. Who?

In a different social media post later on Saturday, Mr. Trump defended Ms. Bondi, saying she was doing a “GREAT job,” but that she needed a “tough prosecutor” in the Eastern District of Virginia, where Erik S. Siebert, was abruptly forced from his post atop the U.S. attorney’s office on Friday. Mr. Trump said he would nominate Lindsey Halligan, a special assistant to the president who was on his personal legal team, to fill the role.

Ms. Halligan, who spent much of her career as an insurance lawyer, has never been a prosecutor.

Not only will she do Trump’s bidding when it comes to prosecuting his nemeses, but she will also not prosecute those who commit crimes either with his blessing or whom he favors. Halligan is admitted to practice law in Florida, though not Virginia, but more importantly, competed twice in the Miss Colorado USA Pageant after graduating from law school in 2014. Halligan is certainly fully qualified to serve in Trump’s administration.

Ed Martin, given the position of heading the Weaponization of the Justice Department group, and Pardon Attorney, after being rejected by the Senate for the US Attorney post for the District of Columbia due to his flagrant incompetence, which then went to Jeanine Pirro of all people, approves of Trump’s move.

It was even more unusual, however, that the president ignored the advice of those officials in favor of others who have limited or no experience at all in handling criminal cases: Ed Martin, the self-described captain of the Justice Department’s weaponization working group, which was created to go after Mr. Trump’s enemies, and William J. Pulte, the director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency.

After all, what use is being president if you can’t use the might of the government to destroy your personal enemies?

How many beach blanket bingo babes does it take to run the now renamed DOJ aka the Dept of Orange Juice? Insurance defense-Miss USA contestant vs. a lifetime appointee district court judge, not to mention that thing called The Law. I dunno, my money is on the no-doubt left-wing lunatic-to-be-named-later jurist. Meanwhile, over in the D of NJ, who will prosecute oil sheiks and baby parts vendors? Maybe unrumored interim US Atty Chris Christen-me redux?

Referencing over 30 statements and posts calling for only three sacrifice’s is a surprising display of moderation and magnanimity. The generosity is overwhelming. Hail Caesar!
Remember, many lawyers and legal pundits said there is a great case, which is a great reason to fire him (he didn’t quit he was fired).FIRED!

You never know where or when a tipping point will come. Meanwhile, someone with a law license will still have to draft an indictment, convince a grand jury, face a trial judge’s wrath, get past Rule 29, and win the case.
