Nicole Black’s blog, Sui Generis , once again provides great information and provokes thought. While sex offenses are really not one of my favorite topics, it is the “growth” area of crime and prosecution, and one that has a huge societal impact. It’s also the subject of discussion at Judicial Reports, which surveys editorial comment on the new civil confinement law. There’s no way around it. This is something we have to address.
So what do we do with hard core sex offenders after they’ve completed their prison sentences? Recidivism is a very real problem, and if one of them touches my child, you can bet that I’ll hunt them down. But that’s the father speaking, not the lawyer. Any ideas?
