A Texas attorney was convictioned of theft for demanding and receiving $100,000 from two men who had affairs with his wife (also an attorney). Apparently, he demanded the money or threatened that he would sue them. In civil law, we call that settlement negotiations. In Texas, always an interesting place for legal happenings, it is apparently a crime to interfere with a person’s right to have sex with your spouse.
Just another silly Texas verdict? Well, if you’re the wife, you’re thinking “only a hundred thou?” And if you’re the victims, you’re thinking “I just paid to have sex with a lawyer?” And if you’re the defendant, you’re thinking “Now if I can only get here to bill for 2500 hours of sex a year at $100,000 per one tenth of an hour…”
Texas always has something fun for the rest of the country.
