The Law Belongs to Star

Lest we worry about poor Star Jones, former Brooklyn sex crimes assistant turned TV phenom during the OJ trial, when every attorney in the world was given a chance to do a stint as TV commentator, she’s landed on her feet.  Having gone from morbidly obese to morbidly peculiar, Star Jones will host a new daytime TV talk show on Court TV.

After a nationwide contest for an imaginative, interest catching name, with a first prize of dinner with Star for 7 nights (second prize was 5 nights), the new show will be called “Star Jones” based on the single entry.  Seriously, Star tells whoever will listen that her live show will be about news, celebrity and the law.  Yes, the law.  Star remains deeply concerned about the state of the law in America, and believes that she will fulfill the need of educating a public that finds Nancy Grace too deep and demanding.

Although the show will be live, Star Jones says that there won’t be a studio audience.  The obvious reason is that the Court TV studios are large enough to hold three members of the public, provided two are very young children.  But Star says that there will be a fascinating interaction with members of the public via telephone, email and text messaging, provided that they have no way to throw things at her in person.

“In the last year, not being on television every day, I found myself talking back to the TV, and the shows that kept my attention were the ones that engaged me.”  And that, kind readers, is as much as you need to know about Star Jones.  Anybody have the number for Bellevue handy?
