I realize that there isn’t enough time today to dig deep into the legal and social significance of the ruling that Britney may not be the best mother, but I can’t resist a few observations.
First, how does a judge chose between Britney Spears and Kevin whatever his name is? What has either one done to demonstrate that she/he is fit to have custody of children? What has either one done to demonstrate that they should be allowed anywhere near children? And if it needs to be said, what are the chances that these children will reach puberty, and if so, grow up to be normal?
Second. attorney and media slut Gloria Allred represented a Britney bodyguard who was NOT called as a witness at the custody hearing. So what does she do? There’s her happy face, on TV, spilling every dirty little secret that the bodyguard has to tell on morning TV. Britney on drugs. Britney nude. Britney nude on drugs. Thank you, Gloria, for compensating for the modicum of good taste shown by this whole affair by proving that you are the lowest common denominator.
Third, when the cute and clean school-girl turned into the rasping tramp, didn’t anyone advise this child-woman that she was really not the center of the universe? For all the money and fame that the former generated, the latter was destined for trouble. It seemed clear to me at the time, and I (as a father of a teenager) watched in horror as this young, and clearly immature, woman blew up her life over and over again. Doesn’t she have parents? Handlers? Agents? Publicists? Anyone with two eyes and common sense? Not only did you let her destroy her own life, but you stood by while your meal-ticket imploded. What were you thinking?
I see Britney Spears as a young woman in need of firm guidance. I understand when you are that wealthy and popular, you don’t have to listen to anyone. But there has to be someone she loves and trusts who can give her the tough love she desperately needs, even at the risk of not being given a new Mercedes every month. Does no one near her care enough to take a bullet for this young woman? For her sake, I hope someone will help her.
