After much soul searching, I have decided to take an indefinite break from professional golf. I need to focus my attention on being a better husband, father, and person.

Yeah, it seems like he should stick to what he’s good at! Maybe he should take a break from his family instead?
Family is more important than work or golf. Golf can wait. When Jordan threw up a ball it was impressive; when A-Rod swings a bat and when Federer swings a racket, it is impressive. It amuses me and makes my life more enjoyable. But my enjoyment is not more important than Tiger’s family or the family of any other sports star. 150 years from now Tiger Woods will be a footnote in history (if that) and nothing more.
I hope he permanently retires. I didn’t want him to break ‘Jack’s’ records. Erin should also hang him out for at least $100 million.
This is straight out of the PR playbook, where he must be seen to set aside golf for his family. The next stage will be him repenting on Oprah, and then win a major. After that the sponsors can come back.
If his wife is sitting next to him on Oprah then it will be worth a lot more than $100m to team Tiger, and if she is sitting there I’d guess she’s getting her share.
