Perry, Ohio Chief of Police Tim Escola got lucky. Officer Janine England, not so much.
And yes, that would be the burglary suspect sitting in the backseat, kvelling over the touching moment between the married (to someone else) chief and his subordinate chick.
Escola, demonstrating that he’s the more experienced cop, retired immediately, thus precluding his being fired for nookie in the first degree. England was fired. She took her case to the EEOC, which concluded that she was the victim of discrimination. Frankly, she looks pretty indiscriminate to me.
Was this a case of sex discrimination, taking it out on a woman in a man’s world? Either way, let this put to rest once and for all any notion that police aren’t like the rest of us. Clearly, they are, capable of monumental stupidity and impropriety. I thought you would want to know.
