Tuesday Talk*: Open Thread

I was up most of the night and didn’t fall asleep until the morning, so I slept in and have no post for today. In its place, I’m going to try an open thread, where you can talk about whatever things/issues are on your mind.

Please don’t make me regret this. Thank you.

While I personally don’t think a man should ever hit a woman, I feel like it is an untenable position legally if the man is hit first and is infantilizing to women when a group of powerful female politicians call for punishment of the man and ignore the woman.

I enjoy lobster, but I loathe the process of picking apart a whole lobster. A few years ago, I made a lobster dish for my mother-in-law’s birthday. Breaking down four lobsters was unpleasant. I was a mess, the kitchen was a mess, I cut myself on one of their spikes, and it took me over an hour. To add figurative insult to literal injury, my hands started to go numb because of a mild seafood allergy. The dish was delicious, but if she requests it again I’m making it with crab.

Your site is frozen on Jan. 7 on my Samsung tablet. Am using my LG phone right now. My daughter works for Samsung. Maybe I should give her a call?

Funny notice by you today. We’ve been staying up later these days. Good sleeping weather, ➕ we don’t have too much going on. Hope this was not off-topic!

Something (Cloudflare?) is signalling browsers that the homepage isn’t likely to change any time in the next 30 days. You can fix that by tapping Refresh in your browser. Our gracious host’s webmaster can fix that by changing or removing the “Cache-Control” and “Expires” headers.

Well, if you can’t get to sleep and want a good read, I finished Judge Gleeson’s The Gotti Wars in August. It was a good read.

this reminded me of a necessary winter public service announcement: clogged snow blowers that are “off” can still mangle your fingers. that’s because the blades are often stuck in a spring-load/sling-shot-back position . so don’t put your hand in there to remove the blockage; get your woke friend to do that.

Let’s give a shout out to Hamline University, striking a victory for social justice by firing a black female art professor because a religious fundamentalist got offended. Intersectionality ftw!

After giving a warning in the syllabus, on the first day of class, at the beginning of the class where it was going to happen, AND a few minutes before it was shown. Not sure what else the prof could have done.

Also interesting is how other professors expressing genuine concern about how to discuss and teach topics that are in dispute within the Islamic community in one of the “town halls” were pulled aside and told to hush.

Oh, so you don’t want to talk / jive about
      Norm Pattis role in
The litigation of The law suits of Gerry Spence
V Board members of his non-profits & Foundations?
      Too complex for Scott?
Hey, Did you bait Norm, or did he provoke you? cults huh? hey, you control the cyber turf buttons, and have your toadies like
      F Lee.

Hello, new random flaming nutjob. Welcome to SJ. Unless you can manage to let go of your psychotic obsession, there is very little chance your comments won’t get trashed and you won’t be treated like a pariah. Have a nice day.

Even a dumb old cop like me can see that this one is off his meds. Either the Admiral decided to throw the doors open while catching up on his sleep or he’s awake and went with gifting us a shiny new pinata.

Off the meds or needs to be on them? Hard to tell the difference sometimes…

So it turns out that many news articles and twitter accounts have been including the university president’s photo and creating the impression it is the professor or sometimes directly mislabeling it as such. I have no idea what the professor’s intersectional credit score is. My sincere apologies for spreading misinformation without a license.

I hope you stayed up all night dancing with Dr. SJ, but if carousing was not the cause of your insomnia, I hope for a speedy recovery from whatever malady befalls you.

Heard a comment that I appreciated. “Watching events in Brasilia is like watching a bad remake of a movie you hated the first time you watched.”

    I had to agree.

This is what’s on my mind and keeping me up at night: We are not getting back to normal. We have suffered a massive crack in our collective psyche and we’re heading for unchartered waters, unless you charter them by reference to the massive societal changes in Europe after the Black Death. It’s not about how many people have died of the coronavirus, which is quite small proportioned to the Plague. It’s about the uncertainty haunting a large swath of humanity that changes in politics, labor and education just hint at.

They keep on saying that the host of this here hotel is what makes Simple Justice. I agree. However, what makes it more special is the commentators who post everyday with or without insight. I want to thank you my digital friends. I was once asked why I came to Simple Justice.

“My health. I came to Simple Justice for the waters.”
“The waters. What waters? We are in Simple Justice.”
    “I was misinformed.”

Does the 2019 Ohio Child Support Overhaul Act change the insurance coverage calculation spelled out in my agreed order for divorce and shared parented signed 2022-08-12?

Let’s give a shout-out to Mr. Greenfield’s new congressman, George Santos. Of the 435 voting members of Congress, I have determined that the Congressman Santos is the most transparent person in the body simply because his lies are completely transparent, unlike other Congressman, who lie and make promises that are more difficult to refute.

Hey folks, it occurs to me that Hotel Simple Justice is not unlike Hotel Caulifornia. You can check out (without paying a red cent), but you can never leave.

Well, maybe the occasional leave of absence, or sabbatical in the academic sense of the word? Will someone please tell me what motion in limine is? It keeps popping up, even at my criminal trial. What are these morons talking about? Where are we? I got places to go, things to do, bills to pay. And you’re talking motion in limine? Lawyers, guns and money, get me out of this!?!

Ended up getting my first ‘grown up’ watch this holiday! My s/o surprised me with a couple (one for donor links) after hearing me talk about the watches I see on here. She was so excited!

The watches were just some no-name quartz watch with a fixed bezel and imitation subdial. But I had fun swapping links, and I’m waiting on a buckle to sew my own nato strap for the spare.

Just wanted to thank the blog proprietor and community for being a positive element in my life, in this and other little ways.

Now I just have to figure out how long I need to wait before getting a seiko 5.
