Did you know that Dominion Voting Machines was purchased by a Trump ally? Did you know that the United States Attorney who obtained the search warrant for Fulton County, Georgia, voting records for 2020 came out of Eastern District of Missouri, where Dominion is located? Did you know that the special agent in charge of the Atlanta FBI office was removed by Ka$h Patel a week ago? Did you know that the Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, whose responsibility is to coordinate American foreign intelligence agencies went to Fulton County to oversee the FBI execution of the search warrant?

Did you know that the President of the United States is pleased by all this?

Last night, after news that the FBI was executing the search warrant broke, Donald Trump posted this on Truth Social:

Stolen Election. Obama. Cash to Iran. Hacked voting machines. Flipping votes from Trump to Biden. China. The Big Lie is back on—just in time for the midterm elections.

Did you know that during Trump’s long, meandering, offensive yet incoherent speech in Davos, he foreshadowed the seven millionth claim that he won the 2020 election bigly?

Trump signposted his intentions in Davos a week earlier, when he said that the people who were involved in the “rigged 2020 election“ were going to be prosecuted soon.

No doubt the world leaders assembled in Davos were impressed by Trump’s assertion, given how much this mattered to them.

The results in Fulton County have been picked and prodded to death, leaving absolutely no doubt that Biden won and Trump lost, even without Trump’s attempt to get Georgia secretary of state Brad Raffensperger to “find 11,780 votes.” Whether Ka$h Patel’s FBI seizure results in the discovery of some conspiracy to steal the election from Trump remains to be seen, although few outside of the MAGA faithful would believe such a fanciful claim.

But why? Why do this now? There’s the issue of Trump’s narcissism, vindicating his suffering from the devastating humiliation of being a loser to Joe Biden by pretending he didn’t lose, even though he did and Trump was crushed in the dozens of attempts to get courts to overturn results.

Speculation (since that’s all that can be done at this point) ranges from merely soothing Trump’s broken ego to manufacturing a claim that either Fulton County, blue states or even the nation writ large can’t be trusted to hold free and fair elections whether either Trump or Trump-endorsed candidates don’t win. Will this search be used to provide the basis for a federal takeover of state elections? Or worse yet, cancel the midterm elections that could result in a Democratic House majority?

Taking a different route, could the end game be the annulment of all actions taken by Biden as president, pardons included, since Trump will claim that he was never elected? So what if it can’t legally be done, as such technicalities don’t seem to be of much consequence when he’s got an Executive Order and a Sharpie.

While the DOJ couldn’t manage to comply with the law requiring the release of the Epstein files, it has managed to find the time to pursue Trump’s “rigged 2020 elections” claim, that “everybody now knows.” It seems clear that there must be method to this madness. What it will end up being remains to be seen, but none of the alternatives bode well for the nation.
