The ploy is obvious. Trump’s next venture into building a monument to himself (because who else will, duh) is built on the shakiest of foundations. His claim that it was long ago approved by Congress is flimsy, bordering on spurious. A 250-foot-tall arch that blocks everything around it isn’t a pair of 166-foot columns explicitly designed to frame Arlington National Cemetery without interfering with the view of the Lincoln Memorial or the Lee Mansion, and Trump knows that he’ll never get approval to build his homage to himself.
Plan B has just dropped.
Obviously, national security is a far better argument for building something than Trump’s ego, and provides an independent justification that doesn’t need to rely on the silly claim that this is what Congress approved, kinda sorta, in 1926.
But snipers?
Trump has already played the drone card with his gilded ballroom, even if no one believes the military “strongly requested” anything of the sort and it makes the White House a military target justifying an attack on it should a foreign country decide it’s had enough of Trump’s extrajudicial murders and violations of sovereignty.
But snipers?
And then there’s the fact that the Pentagon is a mere three miles away from the proposed site of the Arc de Trump, and it’s got tons of roof space being the largest office building in the world, capable of holding plenty of drones, including the $3,000,000 variety that Trump and Hegseth favor rather than the $3,000 variety that has proven so effective by Ukraine against Putin. If there were a need for more drone ports, then the space already exists. Problem solved! Of course, the whole drone port story is a sham, an excuse used to circumvent the real purpose of Trump’s ballroom and arch, which is to be his legacy to the greater glory of Trump.
But snipers?
Who, exactly, does Trump contend needs sniping? Of all the bizarre claims Trump could make about the “Receptive Circle,” otherwise known as the Memorial Circle to the rest of the nation, the need for snipers may be the most dangerously absurd possible. But then, doesn’t the president, as the Commander-in-Chief, get to make decisions about what’s needed for national security that are unreviewable by a court? But then, tack national security onto anything and suddenly there is nothing the president wants to do that can be stopped.
But then, snipers.

FWIW, I believe the correct spelling is “Arc de Trumpf”.
Il Douche is deploying weapons of mass distraction to good effect, as there’s been little discussion of the Trump/ Epstein files in most MSM outlets.
Next he’ll ban The Onion and National Lampoon from the White House for peddling “fake news” and they’ll spend a couple days discussing this.
We need journalists who aren’t afraid to ask hard questions, like “What size Depends does the president wear?”. And, if the WH spokesperson claims he doesn’t wear Depends, demand to know what brand he does wear.
