LexBlog Asks, Simple Justice Answers

As I  posted yesterday, Rob from LexBlog asked me if I would agree to an “interview” following the discussion with Kevin O’Keefe from Real Lawyers Have Blogs.  We did this Q&A thing, and when it didn’t appear online, I assumed that Rob was just messing with me.  But I was wrong.  It just took a little longer than anticipated for my interview to make it to the surface.  And here it is.

Now let’s clear something up right off the bat.  I didn’t know they were going to use a picture of me in the post.  Nobody said anything about a picture.  If Rob had told me, I would have given him a better picture.  This is the one I prefer:

http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.afterimagegallery.com/satterwhiteredford.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.afterimagegallery.com/satterwhiteredford.htm&h=969&w=700&sz=201&hl=en&start=4&sig2=KTdu2W8y3R8jOzenC2-Dew&tbnid=0EZYLHZys4lMkM:&tbnh=148&tbnw=107&eid=ZglXR9DWJpaMeKGXmMYO&prev=

I think it speaks for itself.  I don’t know where they got that picture of some ugly guy for Kevin’s blog, but this is what I really look like.  Yup.  That’s right.

As for the Q&A, I can only answer the questions I was asked.  So there are probably a bunch of people just dying to read something a little more incisive.  Here are the questions that I wasn’t asked, but should have been.

Q:  If you were a tree, what tree would you be?
A:  Huh?  You’re kidding, right?
Q:  When you lose a big case that you really thought you were going to win, how does it feel?
A:  Lose?  I’m sorry, can you define that word?  It’s unfamiliar to me.
Q:  What’s your favorite color?
A:  Go back to lose.  What makes you think I lose?  What did Bennett tell you?
Q:  Did you always want to be a criminal defense lawyer?
A:  No, when I was little, I wanted to be a fireman.
Q:  So what happened?
A:  What happened with what?  The case you think I lost?  What case is that?
Q:  Your blog seems to be schizophrenic.  Are you serious or are you being sarcastic when you post?
A:  I’m always serious, even when I’m being sarcastic.
Q:  When you started blogging, did you think you were going to end up in all these contests?
A:  I thought I would have a total readership of 3; maybe 2 if my wife was pissed at me.
Q:  Do you plan to keep blogging on Simple Justice forever?
A:  Not likely, since I figure that I won’t live that long.
Q:  What would make you stop blogging?
A:  Another interview like this, or a decent offer to replace Adam Liptac at the times to do a column on criminal justice issues.  Bill Keller, are you listening?  Call me!

And so, all the potentially fascinating things about me that you really want to know fall by the wayside.  Instead, I’m relegated to some puffery about whether blogging is going to change the practice of law as we know it.  The answer, by the way, is that it most assuredly will, as long as you continue to read all the truly wonderful things I post on Simple Justice.  Well, maybe it won’t do squat for you, but it will sure make me feel a lot better.  And isn’t that really what blogging is all about?
