After an 18 hole playoff left Tiger Woods and Rocco Mediate tied at even par, Tiger took the win in sudden death with a birdie. This is Tiger’s third U.S. Open Victory and 12th (or 14th according to who you’re listening to) Major.
Rocco Mediate was a star through this U.S. Open, playing spectacularly and always with a smile on his face. His world ranking rose 111 spots, and admiration for his effort and demeanor cannot be counted.
What a great U.S. Open. Thanks Tiger and Rocco.

Dan Radosh had the best line: “Rocco Mediate should argue that he won the bigger, more important holes.”
One hole up or down and Rocco would have taken Tiger.
I had a tee time, but declared a rain day to stay home and watch. It was great. I love the playoff format. Under the standard format Tiger would have won much faster because of that par 5 18th. Rocco has gotten himself into Rider Cup contention. That would be fun.
