Gideon, of A Public Defender fame, moonlights as the blogmeister of Public Defender Stuff, “Indigent defense news, delivered fresh daily.” And you wonder why he always looks tired.
Probably in response to my complaining yesterday about having too many blawgs to read, Gid reminded me that I’m a piker compared to him. To this end, he urged me to take a look at what’s going on in the Public Defender blawgosphere and I have to tell you, it’s quite remarkable.
The wealth of posts, information and insight available from the PDs is amazing. Compared to the handful of decent criminal law blawgs by private lawyers, the PD blawgosphere is bursting at the seams. Consider Gid’s list:
a public defender
A Public Defender’s Life in Alaska
Abolish the Death Penalty
Arbitrary and Capricious
Between A Laugh And A Tear
Cook County Public Defenders Blog
Demonstrative Evidence
Doubtslinger
the Dream Antilles
Fifth Circuit Blog
Fourth Circuit Blog
Go West Young Tex
Indefensible
Indignant Indigent
Infinity Ranch
Ipse Dixit
Jay
Kansas Defenders
Kansas Federal Defender
Knit and the City
La Peine Forte et Dure
lawbabeak

Ninth Circuit Blog

Preaching to the Choir
Rabid Sanity
Second Circuit Blog

Sixth Circuit Blog
Swan Lake Samba Girl
Tales of a Public Defender Investigator
Tenth Circuit Blog
The Rural Bus Route
The Saucy Vixen on Life
The Underblawg
Third Circuit Blog

While I can’t say that I read all of these blawgs, I do read some religiously and scan others regularly. If you’re interested in criminal law topics, this is a mother-lode of good reading. Before people jump down the throats of public defenders, take a good look and appreciate some of the best and most concerned lawyers around.
And lest I forget, thanks to Gideon for putting this all together in one place for the rest of us.

Thanks for the good word! Actually, that list is a just a portion of the complete list, which is available in the form of the PD Blog Guide here:

There are a lot of good blogs in there and some of them deem us worthy enough to share stories from the trench now and then.
