I’m slowly coming to grips with the hard, cold fact that my use of social media may not be the norm. Sure, I read the social media and marketing hawkers, and wonder why they murder all those words for nothing, and wonder why nobody else seems to notice that they don’t actually say anything. So what if I read Jason Falls’ 26 Keys to Twitter Success and find myself asking, what the heck is “twitter success?”
Then I saw this video via Guy Kawasaki, and realized.
It never dawned on me that there are people out there who would need something like this. Are you really incapable of controlling your drunken or drugged up impulse to twit? If so, no rules for twitter success, whatever that is, will help you. And make no mistake about it, you need help.
This may be the saddest commentary on the loss of humanity to technology yet. And the social media marketers are rejoicing that even in your intoxicated stupor, you need the validation fix enough that you will risk vomiting on your keyboard before passing out.
Is this rock bottom? Somehow, I think not, though I can’t imagine how much worse it could get.

Please tell me that is made up. Does it really post that you’re too drunk to post? How is that better?
A non-twitterer recently commented to me “Isn’t 99% of twitter stuff like ‘I’m eating cereal. LOL.'”
Honestly, I think its much worse.
If people no longer entertain me with their drunken status updates, I may have to get television again.
I’m hoping you would tell me that this is made up, and that the world hasn’t gone totally insane.
I remember when cable TV first came out, and the joke then was that there will be 500 channels and nothing to watch. Now, the competition is 500 drunks.
I can’t decide what’s more disturbing: that someone created this or that so many people have posted about what a great idea it is.
Please pass the bong.
Given the stupidity I’ve been reading lately, it’s no surprise that people think this is a great idea. I only hope they live far from me.
I can’t. I’d like to … They seem to be taking this way to seriously … The “So&So is too intoxicated to post” thing looks like a SNL skit…
Only about 2 years behind Google: [Ed. note: Link deleted as against rules.]
Not too surprising that someone has come out with a commercial product that offers the same service.
Now I have to explain it! Sheesh! You and your rules.
Two years ago Google began offering a service for their free GMail email service titled “Mail Goggles.” In order to prevent one from sending embarrassing emails late at night, you can turn on this service will ask you to perform a 3-5 mathematical or algebraic problems before an email will be sent.
