Sen. Larry Craig was granted a hearing on his motion to withdraw his guilty plea by a Minnesota court.  The hearing will be held September 26th, a mere 4 days before his self-imposed deadline of September 30th for clearing his name so he can continue to serve the airport bathrooms of Idaho as a United States Senator.

Remarkably, the hearing was granted a mere one day after the motion was filed, proving that courts can make decisions in less than a month.  Oddly, that failed to make any headlines.

The grant of a hearing suggests that there is an issue to be decided, and that the argument made by the Larry Craig defense team, that he rushed to plea in a panic over the threat of painful publicity or having to pay for a lawyer during the month-long panic-stricken period between arrest and plea, during which Sen. Craig avoided drinking liquids of any sort which might necessitate his use of toilet facilities in a public location where toe-tapping-good muzak might be blaring.




Will the Panic defense prevail?  Stay tuned.  Same bat time.  Same bat channel.  Will a judge issue a decision following his September 26th hearing in time for Larry Craig to get back into the race?  We can only hope.
