My old friend Ron Kuby, one-time protégé of Bill Kunstler, was given the boot from his duet with one-time Guardian Angel Curtis Sliwa when Imus returned to the air following his notorious “nappy-headed ho’s” comment.  Kuby, who goes to the same hair-stylist as Norm Pattis, was crushed.

But you can’t keep a good lefty down.  It’s taken a while, but Ron’s coming home on the Air America shuttle, the Al Franken version of Fair and Balanced Fox.

According to the New York Lawyer, Ron has found lefty love with Air America and will start his new gig next Monday morning. 

NEW YORK (AP) – Ron Kuby, who lost his previous radio job to Don Imus, will return to the air Monday on the Air America Radio network. Kuby will be on Air America from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern time, the network said Tuesday.

In a statement, the former WABC-AM morning host said he will have “a few things that listeners haven’t thought of yet, or don’t want to think about.”

WABC dumped Kuby for Imus, who returned to radio last December. CBS Radio fired Imus in April 2007 for making offensive on-air remarks about the Rutgers women’s basketball team. At WABC, the left-leaning Kuby had sparred with Guardian Angels founder Curtis Sliwa since May 2000.

I’m happy for Ronny.  His abrupt removal, coupled with the fact that Sliwa was kept on board, must have hurt.

But Air America?  I hate to say it, but never have I listened to sound emanating from the speaker of my Prius hybrid radio that had less to offer.  The sounds of shrill voices, restating the obvious from two year old news, having yet to notice that George W. Bush is a lame duck or widely reviled by people of all persuasions, is painful to my ears.

While Rush Limbaugh’s oxycontin delusions are always a fine source of humor and fascination (“where did he come up with that nonsense?”), there is no similar humor to be found on Air America.  Preaching to the choir of leftyism is a pointless endeavor, even if it was conceived as an offset to the challenge of neo-con fantasies.  Fringe elements of the right and left are not comparable; Heck, lefty’s don’t put truck-vaginas on their pickup to contrast with trucknutz, do they?

While I appreciate the concept as well as the next guy, I have no plans to add Air America to my AM dial.  Besides, it’s dangerous to drive when there is such a strong likelihood of falling asleep.
